Natalie smiled with enough teeth to count. "I didn't realise just how much I missed that." She leaned in again, so Marge pulled away again.

"This isn't going to happen," she insisted, her hands wedging the space between them. "Not again."

Natalie's eyebrows drew together, reading Marge's eyes.

"I made my choice and you made yours. You don't love him? Tell him that. But this isn't how you do that."

She meant every word, Natalie could see that, and it stung. She had gotten to a place where she was sure she had risen above kisses in the dark, and Natalie still had one foot in the door. She had been left behind.

She laughed off the thought, pulling away and facing ahead. "Real cute," she muttered bitterly.

"I'm being serious, Nat," Marge demanded, refusing to take her eyes off the blonde. "And I say this because I care about you." That care was as present in her tone as it was in her spoken words. "You don't want to make the same mistakes that I did."
